I really liked how you pointed out that work-life balance is subjective. Seeing how even noted leaders oscillate in their approaches reminds us that it’s okay—and even necessary—to find and follow what works for us personally. Either way, I do not think 90 hour work weeks are sustainable!
Thanks Corey. I’m still thinking about this weeks after writing it. Perhaps the distinction is “what are we feeding”? When we primarily pursue something out of passion, the dominant goal is self-satisfaction: I enjoy this. When we are primarily motivated by compassion the dominant goal is self-sacrifice: I see you, let me help you. These are not mutually exclusive. But perhaps we should consider what the balance between the two should be in our lives. Maybe life is fuller when both are in balance?
