The shootings in Butler, PA this past Saturday still seem somewhat surreal.
Reflecting on the event today, it occurred to me just how much I have written about hate, violence and its aftermath in the past year. Here are some questions I have attempted to unpack in the past.
Violence. Why does violence take root in our hearts? Where does it go?
Hate. Does condemning hate simply create more hate?
Grief. Are we experiencing communal loss and grief?
Integrity. What role can we play in the unbreaking of the world?
Civility. Can antagonists find civil ways to work together?
Conflict. How can we better navigate conflict?
I suspect I will be working through these, and related, questions for some while.
I invite you to join me in that journey of contemplation and reflection.
